The Final Say:

The Westinghouse iGen2200 is a great generator for camping. It is small, compact, efficient, quiet, and has a great run time. We ended up purchasing 2 of these generators to run them in parallel so we could run an electric heater in the tent.

The iGen2200 generators worked great. They could easily power our heater and offer a very good run time of 10 hours with the heater on high (pulling 1500 watts). The generators also came in handy when we needed to run or charge small electronics. It was super easy to fire one up and let it run for the time we needed it.

This truly is a great camping generator that offers more power than most other generators of the same size. We highly recommend the Westinghouse iGen2200 for those looking for a camping generator.

Portability

The Westinghouse iGen2200 generator is a very portable generator. It can easily be carried by 1 adult. The generator does get a little heavier once you fill it with gasoline and oil, but in reality, it does not make it that much easier.

This generator is compact and does not take up a lot of space. If space is a concern for you, this is a great option as it does not take up much space and is easy to transport to where ever you need it.

Size/Watts

The iGen2200 can produce 2200 peak watts and 1800 running watts. This is more than many other generators of a similar size. Many other generators only produce 2000 peak watts and 1600 running watts.

Additionally, you can run 2 of these generators in parallel with the Westinghouse parallel cord. Running 2 of these generators together will double your peak watts and running watts. This is a great option for those who want to be able to power larger items without having to drag around a larger generator.

Run Time

Run time is where this generator truly excels. At a 25% load, this generator can run for up to 12 hours. That is an awesome run time as many other generators will typically run for 6-8 hours. 

We had 2 of the Westinghouse iGen2200 generators running in parallel, powering an electric heater. We had the heater on high, which pulled 1500 watts. With that heater, we were applying about a 41% load. At that load, we could run the generators for 10 hours before they ran out of gas.

That is a great run time, which allowed us to run the generators all night without having to get up and refill them in the middle of the night.

Ease of Use

These generators are very easy to use. There really isn’t much to them. There is a simple on/off switch combined with the choke, an efficiency switch, a breaker, a reset button, and outlets. This truly is a very easy generator to use that does not take much prep or know-how.

Features

Features are the one area that the iGen2200 is not as good as some of the competitors. While this generator has all the features you need, it does not have some of the advanced technology features that some other generators have. There is no digital display, electric start, or really any other advanced features.

With that being said, many of the extra features are not required for these generators, and so we do not see it as much of a con or hindrance for this generator. Overall, this is really a great generator.
